the book i have finished reading is called punkzilla by adam rapp. it was a book made only up of letters by Jamie but every one calls him punkzilla. Jamie writes to his older brother named peter but he calls him p. p has cancer and is dying and Jamie does his best to get over there the whole story is Jamie writing about his adventures in letters. he gets the accessional letter from his mom and dad and his younger brother Edward. this book was really good i recommend it to anybody who loves books of adventure. but i do have to warn you the book has some weird twists and turns but you will have to read it to find out.

hurricane sandy post

hurricane sandy has affected many people especially people who lived next to the beaches i don't know anyone was affected but  i know people were going through tough times without light. its really sad and some kids even died because of this disaster. many adults die because of the hurricane. this hurricane has devastated us. we are still living the aftermath of the hurricane. like still cleaning up some places are still closed due to the hurricane. this is really going to take a long time to recover.

critical thinking question for social action

who is and isn't accepted and why?

I think that there is a lot of racial issues in this world right now. For instance many people look at a "totem pole" which is where the races stand if you are a the bottom then you are least important but if you are on the top you are the most important race in mankind. studies have shown that many people think that europeans are supposedly best but thats the problem theres actually studies about it which is completely racist. when have you ever had to research who is the better race. there shouldn't have to be a challenge between race we should all  be equal and not have to depend on the history of our ancestors or we shouldn't have to rely on racial stereotypes to figure which race is better.

#3 blog post theme

Where in the text does the author try to reveal some truths about the world? What are some powerful, important lines and symbols? What do they mean?

In the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian  junior talks about how reservations are death camps for indians. Because they are all poor and suffering and in the summer its really hot during the summer and he doesn't like it. he seems to be the only one to have left the rez except for his sister who died in a fire because she left. so when his sister dies he thinks its all his fault. he also loses his grandmother and his dads best friend to alcohol he thinks its all his fault.

post #5 reading response: The abossolutely true diary of a part-time indian

The Abosutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

Junior is proud of many aspects of his culture as in the powwow festival. He also lives on a reservation. he loves the indian culture he wants others to learn about it even though hes poor he still has a lot of fun.

Examples of the culture of the spokene is the powwow. " The spokane tribe holds their annual powwow celebration over the labor day weekend. this was the 127th annualone, and there would be singing, war dancing, gambling, storytelling, laughter, fry bread, hamburgers, hot dogs, arts and crafts, and plenty of achoholic brawling." junior loved his culture but he thought that his fellow tribe mates got drunk to often and so many people died because of it. his grandma got ran over by a drunk driver. his dads best friend got shot in the face by a drunk. and his sister died in a fire while sleeping and couldnt wake up because she was too drunk.

Junior loves his native american culture and wants to hold on to it forever and want to tell everyone the truth about native americans. Not that they are rich because they have casinos and they steal money from white people. they do have casinos but it has to be near the road to get alot of customers and thats why junior is poor. Actually native americans are very cultural and have lots of fun and drink and dance and sing and tell stories and have fun even though they might not have enough money. And junior thinks that he realizes that reservations are death camps and he was the only one who left.

drummer boy of shiloh reading response

                            The Drummer Boy of Shiloh

One important message in the Drummer Boy of Shiloh is that you should take pride in the work that you do and in what you do. No matter what your position is or how useless you think you are you are actually important to the enviorment of where you work. Like Joby he feels unimportant in the army and feels that he might die because he has no protection and he wants to hide behind his drum.

In the beggining of the story Joby feels unappreciated and useless. " He tured the drum on its side , where its great lunar face peered at him whenever he opened his eyes" that basically means that yhe was scared so he needed the protection of his drum and he didnt want to be awoken when a peach stone fell. I think that the peach stone stands for worrys and fear because its a stone heavy and when it falls its frighening.

Joby realizes he is important to the army when he talks to the general the general inspires  Joby and he cheers him up. "You are the heart of the army. think about that. you are the heart of the army listen to me now." he was telling Joby he was im portant because without Joby then the army would have no hope in winning. Joby needed to play a fast and steady beat so that the army could fight to there hardest and win.

A way this connects to the world because you should take pride in your work even if you have the lowest position. if you still think your post is worthless then ask a superior then they may shed some light. And superior post need lower post and lower post need superior positions for example: student to teacher.

my reading response

This summer i read freak the might by Rodan Philbrick. the book was about a boy named max who didn't have many friends until freak came along. freak was a boy with speacial decease that limited alot of things that he could do he was very short for his age and max very tall for his age. max didn't know how to read or write until freak showed him. freak really inspire max to do alot of things max never thought he could do. but when freak died max lost all hope. but he decided to carry on the legacy of freak the might and work hard for freaks sake. i liked this book because it had a message even though two completely different people can have a special bond and become best friends.
